The ATEM mixers have 6G-SDI and HDMI inputs supporting various settings at a maximum resolution of 2160p30, while the ATEM Broadcast Studio 4K model has 20 12G-SDI inputs capable of processing UHD-Enable images in 2160p60 format. Each input supports embedded audio and has a reprogram feature that makes it easy to use unsynchronized sources, such as laptops, to deliver PowerPoint® presentations. This model also offers two XLR inputs for balanced audio, allowing you to connect professional mixers, plus an input for common audio devices.

Macros are shortcuts that allow you to automate complex sequences of precisely timed instructions. In this way, it is possible to record a series of transitions between different sources, involving overlapping images, volume adjustments and changes in camera configuration through the use of the ATEM Software Control program or physical control panels. Macros can be saved as XML files and combined in a conventional word processor to create more complex sequences that could not be performed manually during live production. This lets you instantly use them for great looking programs and copy macros from device to device as needed.

The ATEM Software Control program offers the possibility to manage the cameras connected to the switcher. In this sense, the Blackmagic URSA Broadcast and Blackmagic Studio Camera models can be controlled via an SDI connection, allowing parameter changes and chromatic adjustments remotely via the virtual control panel. The app offers two different views. The former is similar to a traditional camera control unit (CCU), while the latter is similar to DaVinci Resolve's primary corrections interface, allowing for color tweaks or more creativity.

All models in the ATEM lineup offer the ability to mix audio from the camera and other devices via the SDI, HDMI and XLR inputs or inputs for hi-fi equipment. The graphical user interface offers everything needed to quickly make adjustments, load graphics into the multimedia panel, mix audio, control cameras and color correct or update the device's internal operating system, among other things. The three available ATEM panel templates have a familiar design. These devices feature LCD screens that provide access to the various menus, high-quality buttons with customizable colors, a digital visual effects button, and a transition lever. Reliability is critical in live streaming and production. Therefore, ATEM mixers have an internal operating system of comparable quality to equipment used in the aeronautical industry. Other cheaper versions that rely on a computer to operate will lose signal if it is jammed. However, this does not happen with the mixers in the ATEM line, as the devices perform only one control function. This prevents tearing in the image and protects the transmission in the event of a computer failure. Simply use other control panels or restart the device without interrupting programming.
